22 August, Lomé (Togo) - Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), praised the efforts of African leaders to protect people's health at the opening ceremony of the 72nd WHO Regional Committee for Africa.
Two years after his last trip to the Togolese capital to support the launch of the Lomé Initiative, the commitment of WHO and its Director-General to support African countries in the fight against falsified and substandard medicines remains intact.
He is among the high-level personalities who will participate in the side event organised by the Togolese Ministry of Health, the WHO Africa Regional Office and the Brazzaville Foundation on Tuesday 23 August: "Fighting medicines that kill in Africa: A collaborative and integrated approach".
