Metropolises and Climate change: The Brazzaville Foundation takes part in the Europe-Africa Forum

17 March, Marseille - The role of African and European metropolises in the global recovery was at the heart of the discussions of the Europe-Africa Forum, co-organised by the Metropole Aix-Marseille-Provence, La Tribune and La Tribune Afrique, under the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Brazzaville Foundation was invited to represent civil society in the discussion on climate change issues.

In a context of geopolitical crises and climate emergencies, this international meeting aimed to strengthen Euro-African partnerships and identify new paths for collaboration.

Aminata Touré, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Senegal and member of the Advisory Board of the Brazzaville Foundation, set the tone of the opening roundtable dedicated to strengthening economic and financial partnerships between the two continents: "We are talking about Africa's wealth. The new deal is to transform raw materials in Africa by promoting an African value chain and African skills". Watch the videos of his speech and his interview with La Tribune Afrique below.

Later on, Richard Amalvy, Chief Executive of the Brazzaville Foundation, presented the issues related to the preservation of the Congo Basin and the African solution of the Congo Basin Blue Fund. This investment fund responds to climate issues on a continental and global scale. While aiming at regional integration and the well-being of populations, it finances projects based on the principles of the green and blue economy in the sixteen countries involved in its governance, the Congo Basin Climate Commission, with the support of the Kingdom of Morocco and the technical support of partners, including the Brazzaville Foundation. Read the article on La Tribune Afrique here and the replay video below.
