The Republic of Niger strengthens its fight against falsified medicines by ratifying the Council of Europe's MEDICRIME Convention, a few weeks after having signed it on 19 February.
This legal instrument, binding in the field of criminal law, criminalises the counterfeiting, manufacture and distribution of medical products on the market without authorisation or in violation of safety standards.
The Brazzaville Foundation supports the signatory countries of the Lomé Initiative in ratifying international treaties and conventions (African Medicines Agency, MEDICRIME), as provided for in the political declaration signed in January 2020, and in setting up national plans to fight against fake medicines within the framework of the 2022-2024 work programme approved by the stakeholders.
