21 September: International Day of Peace

The United Nations invites people to celebrate peace every 21 September. Today, the organisation is also celebrating its 75th anniversary in New York, on the occasion of the opening of its General Assembly under the theme: "Shaping Peace Together".

The Brazzaville Foundation, one of whose major programmes concerns conflict resolution, joins this celebration by recalling that its method consists of making the protagonists of conflicts actors of their resolutions, through mutual recognition and dialogue. In this way, they can actively shape peace together. This is what we call "the spirit of Brazzaville".

Jean-Yves Ollivier, Founding Chairman reminds us that "the Brazzaville Foundation is a charity working towards peace. We are not here to make peace, but to facilitate peace and create the conditions for a durable and serious peace”. This is the meaning of the Libyan dialogue launched in 2018.

Richard Amalvy, Chief Executive, notes that "as an NGO enjoying consultative status with the United Nations, it is natural that the Brazzaville Foundation should take up the UN75 major debate launched by the Secretary General, Antonio Guttieres. It will do so, in particular, by soon joining the NGO conference". In previous functions, Richard Amalvy was Vice-President of the Conference (2008-2010).
