In an interview with the Financial Times, President Macky Sall announces the ratification of the Lomé Initiative, launched on 17 and 18 January 2020 in Lomé.
In an article by journalists David Pilling and Neil Munshi published in the Financial Times on the 22 June 2020, President Macky Sall discussed the considerable economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic in the country and its management by the Senegalese government.
President Macky Sall drew attention to the need for Africa, in these times of search for a cure, to beware of falsified medicines entering the supply chain, which represent between 50 and 60% of the drugs in circulation on the continent. Here is what he declared : “These medicines don’t treat. On the contrary, they are silent killers.”
In order to address this problem, Senegal has ratified the Lomé Initiative against fake medicines, launched on 17 and 18 January by the Brazzaville Foundation and the Republics of Congo, Ghana, Uganda, Senegal and Togo in Lomé.
